Hypertensive Heart Disease

Hypertensive Heart Disease belongs to the category of arterial hypertension complications that tell upon the heart. As one of the principle causes of death worldwide, hypertensive heart disease has some clear symptoms such as sudden weight gain, fatigue, nausea, irregular beating of pulse, shortness of breath, bloating and so on.

Causes of hypertensive heart disease High blood pressure leads to overworking of the heart. The longer it persists, the greater a person becomes susceptible to hypertensive cardiac disease. According to medical sciences, increased blood pressure thickens the cardiac muscles. Now as the heart goes on pumping against high BP, the left ventricle swells up and cardiac output declines. If left untreated or properly treated, it may well lead to congestive cardiac failure. Elevated pressure in blood vessels is the most prevalent risk factor for heart attacks and strokes. It may induce ischemic heart disease as well. Glean through the symptoms of ischemic heart disease enumerated below:

Severe chest pain, especially with exertion Chest pain followed by:

  • Sweating
  • Nausea
  • Shortness of braeth
  • Dizziness or vertigo

    Treatment for hypertensive heart disease
    The basic objective of treatment is to bring down the the blood pressure within manageable proportions. Key aspects that need to be addressed to while treating a patient suffering from hypertensive heart disease include history of heart attacks and strokes, angina and the condition of myocardial infarction, etc.

    The most used medicines are beta blockers, diuretics, angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, calcium channel blockers, direct vasodilators and angiotensin II receptor antagonists. Doctors sometimes prescribe nitroprusside or intravenous diazoxide if the condition of the patient is grave.

    Medicine alone is inadequate to prevent hypertensive heart disease altogether. Alterations have to be made in terms of a number of lifestyle-related aspects, such as weight loss, diet and regular exercise.

    Monitoring blood pressure at regular intervals is strongly recommended by physicians. Various types of drugs are stimulants are given to the pregnant Women And High Blood Pressure to an extent will then come under control. Some very advance blood pressure-lowering drugs and treatment are being carried out, offering benefit to the mother and possibly the fetus as well. Though in normal case, the pressure level becomes normal, in women with a history of hypertension various precautions have to be taken to ensure a safe pregnancy and a safe delivery of the baby and with no indications of complication for both the mother and baby.
