It is said to be high blood pressure when the reading of blood pressure is 140/90 mmHg or even higher than that. High blood pressure is observed in every 1 person out of 3, in all the American adults. Once when this high BP rate develops in a person, it lasts for a lifetime. However, the good thing about high BP is that it can be over come because there are treatments available for controlling it. High blood pressure is nicknamed the silent killer. This is because unlike any other disease, it does not give any signs or symptoms which will help you detect you are suffering from the disorder. It happens so, that people don’t realize they are suffering from this disorder until they start having troubles with their heart, kidneys or brain. If high blood pressure remains untreated they there are a several health hazards can make way. There is high tendency of the heart to get larger which increases the chances of heart failure. Small bulges form in the blood vessels mainly in the arteries of the heart, brain intestines, legs and spleen. The kidney tends to narrow down which may lead to kidney failure. A high blood pressure patient is prone to stroke and amputation of leg as well. These are not all. The eye blood vessels may burst and bleed. This can cause severe eye sight problems leading to blindness. Blood pressure is the force with which the blood pushes arterial walls. The blood pressure remains at its maximum level when it is pumping blood whereas at rest, the blood pressure drops. Blood pressure is different at the daytime. It is low when we are sleeping and high when we are active. A high rate of blood pressure is also experienced when one is excited or nervous.
