Angiotensin II is a powerful chemical that causes muscle contraction resulting in the narrowing of the blood vessels thus ultimately leading to high blood pressure. These are formed from Angiotensin I aided by Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE). Thus the reduction of Angiotensin II allows the blood vessels to expand and relax. The side effects of ACA inhibitors includes cough, increase in potassium levels, dizziness, headache,abnormal taste, drowsiness and weakness. However it is important to mention that these are rare occurrence considering the fact that ACA inhibitors is a comparatively well tolerated drug.
