‘Beta vulgaris’ or Beet or beetroot as we commonly know, is a flowering plant species in the family Chenopodiaceae. An edible root vegetable, Beets may also be in the form of fodder and sugar-producing sugar beet. Beets form very good Healthy Eating diet for people of all ages and all the essential nutrients that it carries keeps ones body healthy and fine. The Beets may be had in various ways according to ones taste and mixed with various types of dishes. The spinach beet leaves are eaten as pot herb, just like the young leaves of the garden beet are eaten.
The deep-red roots of the various garden Beets are eaten boiled either as a cooked vegetable, or cold as a salad after cooking and adding oil and vinegar. The Beets can also e peeled, steamed, and then eaten warm with butter as a delicacy; cooked, pickled, and then eaten cold as a condiment. The Nutrients present in Beets form as a treatment or fevers and constipation, amongst other ailments. Significant amounts of Vitamins like vitamin C are present in the beta vulgaris roots, while the leaves are an excellent source of vitamin A. high in folate, soluble and insoluble dietary fiber and antioxidants, Beets are one of the sweetest of all vegetables, containing more sugar even than carrots or sweet corn.
Besides, Beets are also excellent source of a very good source of manganese and potassium, magnesium, iron, copper and phosphorus. The red beets provide Vitamins A and C, calcium and iron, and add fiber to the diet. Beets and their juices are blood-building herb that detoxifies blood and renews it with minerals and natural sugars. Some of the substances also aid in circulation. The beet juice comprises betaine, which stimulates function of liver cells and protects our liver and bile ducts, in addition to build red corpuscles and adding tone to the blood. A good Healthy Eating Habit should include all forms of foods that help people to stay fit and healthy. It has also been seen that the ingestion produced from the Beets can be one of the useful means to prevent cancer.
