As we age, our responsibilities continue to expand. The day starts with making breakfast and/or lunch every morning, heading to work, dropping off kids to school on the way and ends with making dinner, tucking in the kids and hitting the sack. While taking care of the family, we often don`t get the time to take care of ourselves which usually results in weight gain along with a couple of diseases. Moreover, an undesirable body shape contributes a great load to losing self-confidence which often leads to depression and low self-esteem.
To escape these negative effects, one must incorporate healthy eating habits and a workout routine into her lifestyle. But due to a jam-packed schedule, taking the time out to exercise seems quite impossible. Nonetheless, there are several things one can do to become physically fit and get back in shape without compromising with her busy schedule. When one is doing household chores and other simple errands, she should ensure that she is cashing in on the opportunity of exercising. Here are a few tips:
Walking is a great exercise so one should try and walk as much as she can. Whether to and from the office, grocery store, kid`s school or any other place that she frequently visits, it reduces the fat and tones the legs.
If not walk all the way to these places, she can park the vehicle a little far away from there and walk the rest of the way.
Take stairs instead of elevator. But if someone has to go to 10th floor, she can climb at least five of them.
When in office, one should walk up to a co-worker`s desk instead of calling or mailing him/her. Additionally, whenever one gets up to take a restroom or beverage break, she should walk around the office for a few minutes.
Whenever one takes kids to the park, make it a point to play with them.
Put the alarm clock away inside the room so that when it triggers, one has to get up and go to other side of the room to shut it off.
One should also reduce the hours she spends in watching daily soaps. If not, at least try to workout while watching TV.
Apart from these simple steps, one must learn to manage time and get organized which will free up plenty of time to workout. Mornings are usually havoc – one can be seen running around the house ironing clothes, making breakfast, packing lunch, dressing up kids, looking for keys or jackets, feeding pets and many other things. Anyone can take some time before heading to bed and make things conveniently available in the morning. For example, iron clothes at night, put everything that`s required within reach, set the breakfast table and more. By doing these little things, one will find that she has ample time left in the morning which can be used for working out.
Many women use lack of time as a simple excuse to avoid spending time sweating in the gym. In case one feels this way, she just have to find physical activities that she enjoys doing. Taking dance lessons, going for swims, gardening or learning other activities like martial arts, kickboxing and yoga will definitely interest one and inspire her to find time for any of these activities to stay fit.
