Morning Walks - A Must for Mums

Far from the truth, we believe that the labor-saving technology such as elevators, escalators, cars and other machinery equipment have made our lives easier. But, what we don`t realize that this sedentary lifestyle effects our health in a negative way. We don`t shy away from any kind of food and stuff our stomachs with pretty much everything that soothes our tongues, without giving a single thought to its impacts.

We rely on food products that are either already cooked and packaged or easy to prepare to save ourselves from just doing additional work. While it`s very convenient to gobble up ready-to-eat meals, they spoil the balance between energy consumption and usage. When food intake exceeds the energy consumption, the body starts to store it in forms of fat leading to weight gain and many other diseases. In order to maintain the food and energy balance, one should include exercise in her daily routine.   

When the level of physical activity increases, body fat amount automatically decreases because metabolism is significantly improved. Once reach the thirty mark, women tend to gain weight as their metabolism rate starts declining. Moreover, the overall fitness of the person also improves by exercising, resulting in far better functioning of heart and lungs. While good health is crucial for everyone, it is of great value for moms and moms-to-be.

As the mother`s health directly impacts the baby, every mom should follow a healthy diet and exercise routine. However, during pregnancy and post-delivery, moms shouldn`t put their bodies through much strain, therefore, extensive workouts are not advised. They should go for morning walks routinely. This form of exercise keeps the body fit without stressing it out. Additionally, morning walks boost the mood and leaves the person feeling energetic throughout the day.

One can opt to go for morning walks either before or after having the breakfast – it`s up to personal choice. However, if hitting the road without breakfast, one should eat a fruit or two 10 minutes before leaving and those who choose to munch on a heavy meal first, should wait at least an hour before beginning the walk. As for a company, one can go along with her husband, friends, neighbors or even walk a dog. And an MP3 player is the best companion if there`s no one else.

A morning walk leaves one in a positive frame of mind. Moreover, it helps improve concentrating abilities, keeps her lively and rejuvenated for the rest of the day. All these are equally important for everyone. And pregnant women who go for morning walks witness that it keeps a check on their mood swings and their morning sickness symptoms are reduced to a significant level. In addition to that, those who walk every morning are far less likely to become diabetic, develop cancer and osteoarthritis.
