The various causes of cardiac disease determine the severity of the condition in patients. While some causes can be modified through preventive measures, cardiac disease due to old age problems cannot be amended. The best way to prevent cardiac disease is to identify the causes and take precautionary measures from an early. Some of the common causes of heart diseases include the rise in the cholesterol level in the blood, stressful lifestyle, sleeping disorders, smoking of tobacco, use of excessive drugs, and other factors. The cardiac disease causes may vary from person to person and the treatment method is also different in specific cases. One of the primary causes of cardiac disease is a sedentary lifestyle which most people tend to lead especially in urban areas. The lack of outdoor activities and long hours spent in front of the television and computer are major factors leading to various heart problems.

Senior citizens and men are at a higher risk of contracting various cardiac diseases due to various causes. Some of the major causes of cardiac disease include hypertension, diabetes, unhealthy diet and obesity. Among these the problem of obesity is major concern in many countries in the west as well developing nations. Cardiac disease caused by obesity is a common phenomenon worldwide. Obesity is the result of unhealthy eating habits with an excessive intake of food containing saturated fats. Also lack of regular exercise leads to gaining excess weight which puts a person at a risk of contracting cardiac disease. Genetic factors and family history of heart disease are also causes of cardiac disease in a number of people around the world. In senior citizens it may be caused due to an unhealthy lifestyle at a younger age.

The several other causes of cardiac disease include could be increased heart rate, deficiency of chief nutritional elements in diet, as well as some environmental factors. The causes as well as symptoms of different types of heart diseases may vary to a large extent. Unless causes such as overeating, smoking, and leading an inactive life are checked from an early age, they could lead to irreversible heart problems at old age. The high stress lives in major metropolitan cities across the world are leading to more people suffering from cardiac diseases. In fact not only senior citizens, but also a large number of young adults have known to be diagnosed with cardiac disease. If the causes of cardiac disease are prevented then people can have a healthy heart all through their lives.
