Around 85% people suffer from tooth decay or dental caries due to bad oral hygiene and poor eating habits. Penchant to eat sweets and other juicy food stuffs leads to early teeth damage. For a proper care of your teeth, you should follow a good dental hygiene such as brushing teeth regularly, visiting your dentists after fixed time intervals, and eating fewer sweet items. All these habits may prevent complex situations such as tooth decay and gum problems. Prevent your teeth from early damage with following oral hygiene tips:

Brush your teeth regularly:
Regular brushing helps in removing plaque. Brush gently so that the germs cannot escape and use a fluoride toothpaste to protect against decay. Brush at least twice for effective cleaning and change your brush after every three to four months. Pay special attention while cleaning gums as germs usually hide in the spaces between your gums and teeth. Brush thoroughly and pay special attention while cleaning your gums.

Control the intake of sugar in your food:
Limit the amount of sugary and juicy items as it sticks to your teeth and leads to early damage. Don't eat sweets repeatedly between your meals as your teeth need time to remineralized with saliva. Drinking sweet juices, fizzy drinks, and eating acidic foods, particularly between your meals may lead to tooth decay and erosion. So avoid them to protect your teeth and gums from problems.

Smoking and Chewing Tobacco: Smoking or chewing tobacco stains your teeth and may even lead to oral cancer. Drinks containing increased amount of alcohol and sweetening agent sticks to your teeth and eventually leads to tooth decay. Smoking and chewing tobacco also affects your gums and leads to tooth discoloration or sometime tooth loss. So reduce the intensity of smoking or drinking alcohol to make sure that your teeth remain healthy.

Use Mouthwash: Using a fluoride or an antiseptic mouthwash can help you in preventing tooth decay, and it also helps in avoiding bad breath, a sign of poor oral hygiene. To make the best use of it consult your dentist and take his advice.

Visit your dentist regularly
: Go for oral check-ups to your dentist after every six months to ensure healthy teeth and gums. Regular check-ups help in preventing an array of oral conditions and helps in keeping your teeth healthy. People who smoke or drink should visit their dentist frequently as compared to people who maintain a good oral hygiene to avoid complex teeth and gum disorders.

Prevention is better than cure so take care of your teeth and gums to ensure a healthy life.
