Some people have the wrong notion that the low calorie recipes are bland and tasteless. However properly cooked low calorie food can cut down fat consumption while retaining the same taste and flavor.
Every one should consume low calories diet to ensure a healthy living. There are ample diet recipes that can be followed in the day to day life that will reduce the chances of various ailments.
One of the low fat recipes for snacks is "Dahi idli".
Ingredients:
4 pieces of idlis
salt for taste
Ingredients for the tempered curds:
1 cup fresh curds
1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
1 teaspoon ghee
4 to 6 curry leaves
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 whole dry red chilli
salt to taste
Ingredients for garnishing:
1 tablespoon coriander leaves
Method:
The idlis are served after being tempered with fresh yoghurt. Coriander leaves are smeared over the idlis and dahi idli is ready to be served.
Another healthy recipe for main dish is "Black chicken".
Ingredients:
2 finely chopped Tomatos
Chicken 1/2 kgs
Haldi
Dhaniya powder
Garam masala
Ginger and garlic paste
2 finely chopped Onions
Salt for taste
Coriander for garnishing
Little water
Methods:
Add red chilli powder with dhaniya powder and haldi in a vessel. Then roast it till fragrance comes out. Add oil to another vessel and heat it. Then chopped onions should be fried till it becomes golden brown. Add diced tomatoes and fry till it becomes mashed. Then chicken should be added and cook till the water is soaked. Add some garam masala, salt and little water. Cook for two minutes and black chicken is ready to be served. You can eat it with rice or chapattis.
Try another one of the low calorie recipes which is purely vegetarian dish named "Dal plain curry".

Toor daal
Turmeric powder
1 Tomato
1 Onlion
Garlic Clove
Mustard Seeds
Green Chilly
Tamarind paste
Curry leaves
Mustard seeds
Oil
Salt per taste
Cumin seeds
Fenugreek seeds
Cilantro for garnishing

Methods:
- Toor dal has to be steamed and fenugreek seeds should be added. Along with it add turmeric powder, few cumin seeds, tomatoes, onions, garlic and cook till 3 whistles. After that mash the ingredients and keep it aside.
- Take a vessel and heat cooking oil. Add mustard and cumin seeds. With that add the curry leaves with green chilly and then saute for one min.
- The mashed dal should be added next with little water if needed.
- Add salt as per taste
- Cook till dal is properly boiled.
