Minoxidil was actually a drug used for hypertension, but in course of time proved itself as an effective agent causing excess hair growth. It is required to apply Minoxidil on the bald areas twice or thrice a day. The only drawback is that the treatment needs to be continued life long. However, all good things come with little bit of problems. If you are using Minoxidil then you must also know few facts about it and they are as follows,
  • It does not seem to be very helpful in preventing receding temples.
  • It is best used when there is still a lot of hair left on the head.
  • Minoxidil might cause changes in blood pressure.
  • Finasteride:

At present, this seems to be a more useful drug than the former, Minoxidil. Although its principle use happens to be treating patients suffering from prostrate disease, still, as it prevents the conversion, so it definitely increases hair growth. The disadvantage

    Fabao:

This is a Japanese drug based on the sebum clogging theory. It prevents hair from being choked to death by the secretions. Preliminary results indicate that it will be the most useful drug in preventing and managing baldness.

    Surgical hair Restoration:

This happens to be a permanent solution to baldness but involves high cost. This procedure uses the hair from the sides and back of the scalp and distributes in the balding areas. Patients with hair loss limited to the frontal areas are the best candidates. The number of transplant sessions and the placement of macro or micro plugs depend on the degree of baldness. Geoplasty or scalp reduction is used for people with bald spots less than three inches in diameter. In this method a small section of the scalp is removed and the sides of the scalp are lifted and sutured together.

    Natural Method:

It is quite simple, use a hair pack, which can effectively made at home by mixing henna, amla, shikakai, reetha and egg white. Apply the pack all over the scalp, leave for 30 minutes and then wash off. Use a solution of green tea as the last rinse. This act as great conditioner. Wash your hair regularly with a mild herbal shampoo, oil it well and do not forget to comb it gently on daily basis.

    Problems:

    • It does not seem to be very helpful in preventing receding temples.
It is best used when there is still a lot of hair left on the head.

    Finasteride

This seems to be a more useful drug than the former, although its principle
use is to treat patients suffering from prostrate disease. It prevents the conversion
of testosterone to DHT and definitely increases hair growth.

    Problems:

    • It is known to cause impotence and loss of libido, due to low DHT levels. A handsome impotent? Or a balding potent? Some choice!
