The earth is a gift that we must learn to respect and recognise. As we are occupied in our everyday pursuits, it is very easy to disregard the planet that we live on. Earth Day is meant to bring us back in touch with the reality that we are not self-sufficient and cannot continue to conduct ourselves in an inconsiderate manner.
The earth cannot naturally replenish its many endowments, whether water, air or the soil because of the rapidity with which the resources are being depleted. Conservation of the resources is our immediate obligation. Earth Day is your day to take some action or simply reconsider the way you live.
It can be a time to pledge to take concrete steps to ensure the survival of generations to come. Whether it is pledging to go off plastic, organising awareness campaigns or having the organisation you work for, maintain an eco-friendly work environment, little steps can add up to change the big picture.
