There is growing evidence that people who maintain a healthy weight, or who lose at least some of their extra fat, can substantially lower their risk of diabetes. And for those who suffer from it, a diabetic diet is the foundation of treatment. But you could bring high blood glucose levels down to normal with weight loss, exercise and sometimes medication and/or insulin.

Unless you follow a strict diet, it is unlikely that you will be able to maintain good control of the disease. A diabetic can eat almost any foods that other normal people eat. But care should be taken that a diabetic has a balanced diet and that it is within the permissible caloric limits.
Apart from a diet, the doctor may put you on medications for some time. But you should remember that a great deal of discipline should be introduced in your lifestyle to control diabetes. As far as possible you should eat meals at the same time every day. Also, remember that smaller but frequent meals will keep you from feeling low and tired.
Exercise is just as important as a disciplined lifestyle and diet, to help prevent Type 2 diabetes. Exercise will lower the blood glucose concentration through energy consumption.
