Vitamin E is not always good news. Not for the aged at least. The supplement pill, far from offering protection against bronchial diseases, could actually provoke respiratory problems.

Vitamin E was earlier considered a healthy supplement for elderly people to take. But recent studies seem to prove otherwise.

Vegetable oils, nuts and leafy green vegetables have abundant quantities of the vitamin. In its natural form the vitamin is very effective, as it is easily absorbed.

Use less of vitamin E supplementsThe supplement however, isn't absorbed very easily. Therefore a pill rarely gives the full benefit to the person who is taking it. This could be the reason why vitamin E failed to protect older people from developing macular degeneration, (age-related eye problems) or from stalling progression of the condition once it's under way.

Earlier studies claimed that Vitamin E helped guard against infections by stimulating the immune system. But recent studies showed that people who took the vitamin supplement were actually more likely to develop infections and fever.

This study is just another recent discovery that stresses on the need to absorb vitamins in their natural form. There is no substituting the importance of fruits and vegetables in our lives. Popping pills just doesn't give you the same benefits. No matter what your age is.
