Regular Physical Activity

It is quite natural that a man would grow old with time. However, one should always try to opt for healthy aging to enjoy the beauty of that age too. Regular physical activity would keep you fit even after the middle age. You can be a healthy old man and not a severe heart patient with some kind of regulation maintained by you. Regular physical activities can reduce the chances of getting acute heart diseases as well as several others. Neither does that mean that you have to run like a marathon runner nor do you need to spend much time on exercise programs. Well! Even a few minutes regular physical activity can be effective.

Get conscious about the risks and injuries of physical activities and so, it is advisable that you should consult a doctor first before opting for any exercise program in old age. It is better to spend your energy on normal routine activities rather than going in for vigorous exercises.

30 minutes of low to moderate levels of physical activity is a must for healthy aging. But, one should avoid the chance of getting injuries to the muscles and joints as in the old age; most people suffer from fragile bone problems. You could regularly exercise through brisk walking, jogging and swimming. These are excellent options of regular physical activity. They help you to burn off extra calories and thereby control your appetite.

Physical activities increase the efficiency of both the heart and the lungs. The nature of regular physical activity should vary from one age group to another. You need to tailor the activity program according to your fitness level. The people who are suffering from any heart problem or hypertension or even diabetes should first consult a doctor. Regular physical activities can be dangerous in such cases. But, if you were allowed to exercise, then they would surely lower the high blood pressure and improve blood cholesterol level. Physical activities generate energy and are known to reduce stress.

Please notice whether you are experiencing any chest pain or respiration problem during regular physical activity. If you are having some physical problem, then, immediately stop continuing your exercises and consult a doctor immediately. It is better to start a regular exercise regime from the young age and then tailor the activities according to your age and physical fitness. If you suddenly start doing physical exercises at the old age, then, it might not be much effective.
