The conditions of a human body, in general, start to deteriorate with age. As person begins to grow old and crosses the age limit 60, the general immunity of the body begins to loosen up. This is one of the biggest facts about aging. There are many popular health organizations for healthy aging which offer various medical treatments and measures to keep the aging body fit and free from the diseases which have a tendency to occur as one begins to age. One such organization is the National Indian Council on Aging (NICOA). The National Indian Council on Aging (NICOA) is a non-profitable organization which was established in the year 1976.

It was founded by the members belonging to the National Tribal Chairmen’s Association. The main of this national non profit organization is to improve the health of the aging people. The main motive of the National Indian Council on Aging (NICOA) is spreading general awareness about comprehensive health and offering social services to the Alaska Native and American Indian elders.

The National Indian Council on Aging (NICOA) offers services through several grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services agencies. The NICOA functions as a National level Sponsor for the federal Senior Community Service Employment program or the SCSEP. It operates in a total of 15 states. The National Indian Council on Aging (NICOA) is providing its unparalleled services for more than 30 years. The board of directors is comprised of 13 members who are elderly people and either American Indian or Alaska natives. The members have been represented from 12 Bureau of Indian Affairs regions. One also represents the National Association of Title VI Grantees. The members who vote for the NICOA are American Indian or Alaska Native elders who are either 55 years of age or have crossed the age limit of 55. The Indian members who are under 55 and the non Indians of all ages form the Non-voting associate committee.
