All forms of Cancer generally begin in the cells. A normal cell grows and divides in a controlled manner but when this orderly process is somehow affected, the genetic material (DNA) somehow gets damaged or transformed, this produces certain malfunctions thus attacking the normal cell growth and divisions. This leads to the formation of mass of tissue called tumor. Now all tumors are not cancerous; tumors can be benign or malignant. Benign tumors aren't cancerous and can be removed and do not repeat again, however Malignant tumors are cancerous. The cells in these tumors generally invades the surrounding tissues and spreads to other parts of the body. Most cancers have got their name from the organ or the type of cell they have originated from.
