Food groups pyramid is a part of the food pyramid. This is a system of classification of different types of foods. These are the types of food that human beings consume everyday. This group includes food items like Cereals, breads, pastas, crackers, and rice. The Grains that are included in this group supply energy in the form of starch. This is also a protein rich food as well. The Whole grains have dietary fiber as well as essential fatty acids. Other than this, you will also get nutrients. Milled grains are not as highly recommended as whole grains. Whole grains can be found mostly in oatmeal, brown rice, grits, corn tortillas and whole wheat bread. Per day you can have 6-11 servings of grain products.
Vegetable Groups:
This is also a major food group in the food groups pyramid. This is actually a part of a plant which is consumed by the human beings. Some of these include the stem, root, flower, etc of the plants. Vegetables contain different types of vitamins as well as minerals. But again it should be kept in mind that different types of vegetables have different types of minerals and vitamins so you have to consume a variety of vegetables. For example, green vegetables have vitamin C. The dark orange and dark green vegetables contain vitamin A and the bushy vegetables contain iron as well as calcium. Vegetables are very low in fats and calories. But when they are cooked they can often add calories to this. 3-5 servings of vegetables are recommended everyday. Vegetables have to be fresh, frozen, canned, or made into juices.

This is also an important part of the food groups pyramid. Some of the major fruits that should be included in your daily food include oranges, apples, berries, plums, as well as grapes. These are low in calories as well as fats. The fruits are also a source of natural fibers, sugars as well as vitamins. You can also have juices but whole fruits are better.

All the dairy products are the major part of the food groups pyramid. Most of the products are made out of milk of the mammals. Some of the milk products include cheese, yogurt, milk curd and various other things. These products offer high fat as well as calcium.
