So what really are essential oils? They can be described as subtle, volatile liquids that are got by distilling from plants, shrubs, bushes, trees, roots, flowers and seeds. Their use and presence has been recorded from very early times. In fact, one can even find references to such essential oils like myrrh, rosemary, cinnamon, cassia and frankincense in the Bible.
What then are the results one can get by using these essential oils?
- They are aromatic
- They are immune-enhancing
- They support the body's natural defenses
- They support the circulatory, respiratory, endocrine, digestive, nervous and immune body systems
- They are supposed to help in normal cell-regeneration
- They help to elevate the mood
- When used topically, they are antiseptic
- Are high in antioxidants
- Are actually oxygenating
- Help in boosting energy and stamina
- Are relaxants
- Help when you are stressed out or experiencing frustration
- Reduce effects of ageing
- Help you think clearly (mental clarity)
- Promote health, vitality and longevity
What you find on the shelves of stores are heavily diluted versions of these essential oils. This is done so as to reduce costs and so may not be really pure. They may also have added artificial ingredients. Before you spend a packet on these, see that they are from a trusted and experienced source who will not take advantage of the layman's ignorance and take people for a ride. Remember that it is only the unadulterated essential oils that will contain all the above-listed therapeutic qualities so always go in for established and trusted brands that display the ingredients on the wrapper without any camouflage.
