Get it Right
Is it possible to buy a decent suit that`s not expensive?
Yes, but beware: it`s easy to buy a badly made one too. Here are some important pointers.
Ask an assistant whether the suit is fused or semi-fused. In a fused suit, the fabric is glued to the inner construction, making it stiffer and cheaper to manufacture. A semi-fused will have more hand-made, tailored elements and is likely to last longer, and more importantly, fit better.
Choose lightweight wool or wool mix fibres, which will hang better and be more hardwearing than synthetic versions.
Tied Up
What is the proper length for a tie to hang?
Your tie should cover all your shirt buttons and just hang over the waistband of your trousers by about an inch. When tied perfectly, both ends of the tie should be of the same length. To get the ends to come out evenly use a standard four-in-hand knot and start with the wide end of the tie hanging one foot lower than the narrow end. Don`t tie a double Windsor knot if you are over six foot or have a larger than 16 1/2 inch neck as your tie will end up barely at your waist. And only use a quality, full-length tie.
Casually yours
You want your man to look trendy without looking immature in casuals. Here are some pointers.
A dark T-shirt, flat-front trousers and a stylish, fitted mac will instantly make you look like you`ve got your finger on the pulse. Go for a modern shoe style such as loafers. Concentrate on dressing in one or two colours.
Buy some casual trousers that are combat-style but without the side pocket. Nylon loose-cut trousers with a drawstring waist are a good alternative. Look out for velcro fastenings rather than zips.
