Khaki is a natural fabric with natural colours. Genuine Khaki was first popularised in India during the days of the British rule. The Britishers in India found it comfortable to wear in this hot humid climate. For long, Khaki was considered the thing to wear only on expeditions and various kind of outdoor activities.

But it suddenly sprang into fame. Today Khaki is the buzzword in fashion and considered trendy right across the world. Khaki has immense style, comfort and versatility. So keep that in mind when you are trying out a garment. It is widely recommended that you choose something that is 1/2 inch loose at the waist.

Length wise, an additional one or one and a half inches more are considered necessary. The inseams of jeans and even shorts are left unfinished. This will help you shorten the garment to your liking. If you think any alteration needs to be done, make sure your khakis are well washed and dried before you embark on the project. Rather than having them spun dried in your machine, try hanging them out. This helps reversing the shrinking process to an extent.

Khaki looks sharp and crisp, and yet is easy on the body. They have a soft, well-worn feel about them. They are easy to maintain and can be hand or machine-washed. Khaki trousers are considered all-purpose and are an essential part of every military outfit. It is the comfort and durability that makes them so popular. Major retailers around the world now stock a variety of outfits in khaki for their fashion conscious customers. Skirts, shirts, jackets, Bermudas, jeans and trousers, now adorn the racks of fashion houses. Manufacturers have even started blending khaki with certain synthetics to soften the fabric and lend it a less crumpled characteristic. It makes fashion more comfortable.
