Where are the Supermodels

Whatever happened to the supermodels of the world? They seem to have disappeared from the scene.

A few years ago, they seemed the monarchs of all that they surveyed. And of all those who surveyed them. On catwalks and ramps, magazines and glossies.

Now, they're no longer a part of the scene. They seem to have been replaced by celebrities and a few upcoming models. Hitherto, these very same supermodels were making millions of dollars every year, just to pose and pout. Their faces were their fortune.

These days there are a number of new girls in the fashion business. And their faces seem to be doing the trick just as well. The merchandises are marketed just as successfully.

Is this because the public seems less fascinated with the supermodels? Or are the advertising media getting smarter at peddling their wares? Either way, it has spelt the doom of the wonder girls who ruled the ramp for years.

The new girls on the scene look different. They are not what are popularly considered 'classically beautiful'.

They are refreshingly original in their looks and attitude. They're nowhere near perfection, they are not super girls.

They represent the average girl out on the streets. They epitomise the real people. And they have been astoundingly successful till now.

The awesome supermodels are a fading memory now.
