Aviator glasses

A hit at the fashion shows these days, Aviator glasses are the Hipster's choice in Sunglass Chic. The lenses are as large as the ever-trendy "Jackie O" style, but they lighten up with wire frames and Amber or Rose tints. So, go ahead and pick up a pair. It is all about having the right accessories as well, you know. So, take flight. Get trendy!

Beaded Power Bracelets

Wherever you go, people are wandering around with their wrists sporting one of this year's most popular accessories: the power bracelet. These little beaded numbers that are popping up on men and women of all ages - including Madonna, Ricky Martin and Germaine Greer - are supposed to help the wearer achieve anything from happiness to wealth. It all depends on the choice of the colour of the stone you wish to wear.

And you need to know that wearing a gemstone power bracelet can be beneficial or detrimental. The stones have latent energies that may or may not be compatible with the wearer and success depends on whether a positive energy is activated.

And you need to be wary of the misleading claims about these power bracelets. The point is that gemstones are like people: you get on with some and not others. So, find one that suits you and who knows your life might just become that much more empowered.

Bag a Baguette

You know what's hot now by way of bags? And it isn't even a bag, to start with! It's a Baguette!! Not much bigger than the loaves of bread they were named after, the Baguette combines the sleek chic of a clutch and the ease of a shoulder bag with a short strap that just fits over your arm. So, go get yourself one and watch it bag all the sidelong envious looks!

Hoop Earrings

Hoops are in - and they are in, in a very big way! Did you know that rings (hoop earrings) are one of the hottest trends going, and that they come in plenty of sizes and styles?

The nicest thing is that hoops work with any hairstyle and complement all kinds of clothes. With a tailored outfit such as the blazer and shirt, you can't go wrong with classic, plain wire versions. But don't stop there. There are nicer choices to consider: You could wear bold, twinkly crystal loops for a big night out, or colourful ones in clear lucite to jazz up any simple ensemble, or even elegantly detailed marcasite for dressy occasions. Take your pick - just don't run around without them circles!

Accessories that Bust Those Bulges

Sometimes it's not the dress but the details that matter. Add these four little touches to any outfit to make your body look even better.
  • Decorated shoes (with flowers or sequins) steer the focus away from thighs and draw the attention right down to the slimmest part of your body...your feet!
  • A beaded or embroidered jacket tied at your shoulders creates a slim vertical line (and brightens your face).
  • Heeled knee-high black boots worn with black stockings and a black knee-length dress streamline your legs. (Don't do this in the heat of summer, for crying out loud!)
  • A long-line silk stole or scarf adds luxury and covers all figure foibles.
Hair Stick

One singular accessory is turning heads everywhere - the hair stick. Here is how to use one to dress up the classic half up/half down hairstyle:

Take one-inch-wide sections from each temple. Twist pieces together at the back, forming a bun at the nape.

Holding the stick horizontally, weave it into the bun, grabbing and twisting hair and push out of bun.
