Family can said to be the macrocosmic representation of the whole society. If we watch carefully we will find that it has all the ingredients that makes in a larger sense, a complete society. Thar`s why it is a matter of great duty for the head of the family to control and handle it accordingly. In the modern world, on most of the occasions we have seen that the head of the family is an experienced and aged person who has throughout his life, accumulated a huge amount of experience and on that foundation he provides sufficient directions to all the members of his family and provide them with suggestions, how they should lead their lives and how they can revive themselves, if they are stuck at any particular positions of their lives.

Though on most of the occasions we see that the head of the family is a male person, but several times it has also been witnessed that the women are with due care and affection, raising up a family. From this point comes the matter of discussion over the patriarchal and matriarchal family. Like a society, family can be both of patriarchal and matriarchal types. There is no point in arguing about this matter that whether men or women make better head of a family. Because both these genders are efficient in growing up a family and they go on nourishing themselves as the grow up with the whole world as well as with their experiences. The male gender may differ on this perspective but on several occasions the women have taken much prudent in comparison with the male members of the family. The main reason is that generally women are of much calm minded and they instinctively gain a deeper understanding about the various aspects of life.

In the recent times it has been observed that the number of nuclear families are increasing at a drastic rate. This phenomenon started from the very beginning of the 20th Century and the World War II has a great impact over the division of the families. This Great War II is such an event which caused in the devaluation of the morality and in resulted in the loosening of relationship ties. That`s why the cordial and soft relationships went on degrading gradually and the family ties were severed on numerous occasions. From this time onwards, it was also observed that in a joint family, the members started to distrust each other and all this reasons has resulted in the creation of the Nuclear Family. It may seem that nuclear families are easy to be handled but actually the whole thing gets much complex for the head of the family. Because in a joint family the way a child grows up, he does not get the same ambiance as that of the joint family. And it results in the psychological disorder among the children. The head of the family has to deal with all these things quite efficiently. That`s why it can be said quite affirmatively that the head of the family has endless ocean of responsibilities and if he or she cannot perform his or her job properly, then except him or her, there will be nobody to be blamed.
