Far-sighted eyes occur when one finds it difficult to see things which are placed very close. This condition of the far-sighted eyes is also known as hyperopia. This is a very common vision problem. Healthy eyes are very important for seeing clearly, but there are a number of factors which can result in the far-sighted condition of the eyes. When one is suffering from long sightedness they have a clear view of the objects that are at a distance, but the nearby objects appear blurred. If a patient is far-sighted, then his eye is a little too short from the front and to the back. This causes the light rays to focus on the front of the eye rather than at the back i.e. the retina of the eye. The degree of the
farsightedness of the eye is the determining factor of the focusing ability. The people who are far-sighted they only those objects are clearly visible to them which are located at a great distance from them. However a patient who is mildly far-sighted they will be able to see the objects lying close to them, but with a slight blurred vision.
Farsightedness is said to be congenital and said to be inherited genetically. Most of the young people themselves do not realize the condition since in these cases their eye lens is flexible enough and this compensates for the problem vision. That is why, in most of the cases, need corrective lenses are not required. But the fact also remains that as one ages, the elasticity of the lens becomes poor and it is not able to make the necessary adjustments. When one becomes middle aged, there is need for the corrective lenses for the people suffering from farsightedness. This is for the needs for vision so that one can see clearly. One just needs to check with the eye specialist to see if there is any optical power. It can be improved using eyeglasses or using contact lenses. In some cases surgery is also recommendable. When the cornea of the eye is not even and has a smooth curves, then the refraction of the light rays do not occur properly and this causes the defect in the eyes due to the refractive error. However, it can also lead to far-sighted eye, if the eye has a shorter size than the normal. The light rays are focused behind the retina, instead of focusing on it. This results in the blurring of the vision.
Some of the signs and symptoms of the defect are when the close by objects show blurry, when you squint for a clear vision, there is eyestrain like burning eyes, pain around the eyes and headaches. For treating this discomfort, there are the corrective lenses, eye glasses, Refractive surgery, Lazer treatment, Photorefractive keratectomy or PRK. One can even be recommended for Conductive keratoplasty abbreviated as CK.
