Santana made a HUGE comeback last year with his album 'Supernatural'. Falling record sales over the years led to a strategic retooling. The result of this rethink is 'Supernatural'; Santana plays with a host of guest artists including the Dave Matthews Band, Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20 and Wyclef Jean of the Fugees. They provide the voice to go with Santana's soaring guitar riffs. 'Supernatural' picked up a clutch of awards at this years Grammy Awards, including the prestigious ones for Song of the Year (for 'Smooth) and Album of the Year.
The songs are catchy and ideal for continuous radio play. They bring to mind Santana's undiminished musical skills evident since the days of `Black Magic Woman' and 'Oye Como Va'. Check out 'Smooth' with silken voiced Rob Thomas providing the accompanying vocals. 'Smooth' is currently doing time at any and every self-respecting nightclub in town. 'Corazon Espinado' has a typical Latin beat to it. 'Maria, Maria' is also fairly good.
Rating: It's getting tiring hearing Santana here, there and everywhere. Nevertheless, bound to go down as a classic.
