The All Time Greatest Movie Songs II
When you're on to a good thing, plug it for all it's worth. Recently, compilation albums have been selling like hotcakes, overtaking solo artists/bands on the top of the Billboard charts.
Now get ready for this compilation of movie music culled from an eclectic set of films. There's both the nouveau and the nostalgic. So you have the delightful old favourites like Hot Chocolate's 'You sexy thing' ('The Full Monty') and Starship's 'Nothing's gonna stop us now' (Mannequin). Bring out your light sabers- John Williams' stirring 'Star Wars' theme (picture Han Solo and Luke Skywater battling Darth Vader) is also on the album.
There's a rather poor remake of the seminal 'Video Killed the Radio Star' song by trio, The Presidents of USA from the Adam Sandler starrer 'The Wedding Singer'. The movie featured some of the coolest 80's hits, unfortunately this cover version just does not match the original.
There's some newer stuff. Will Smith's 'Wild, Wild West' from the movie of the same name (I would rather they had Smith's 'Men In Black') and Bob Dylan's 'All Along the Watchtower' from 'American Beauty' are two of the better ones. But best of all, the album has one of my all time favourites Prince Nelson Rogers (who was briefly known as 'The Artist' and then 'The unpronounceable one'!) belting out the mind-blowing 'Purple Rain'. Awesome!
Rating: I'd go out and buy this one. Apart from the music, there's the little fact that with every CD, you get a VCD free with the videos of the leading tracks and movie trailers. Until supplies last ....so hurry!
