'Westlife' by Westlife
They are your boy-next-door kind of guys. The typical boy band with their chocolate-boy looks and their love-drenched songs. Westlife has come out with their latest self-titled album. And as if that was not enough, it also comes in a two cassette pack.
Some of the cover versions of old hit songs are pretty good. 'Seasons In The Sun', 'More Than Words' and 'I Have A Dream' are amongst the better repackaged tracks. Amongst the original songs, 'Swear It All Again', 'I Don't Wanna Fight' and 'Can't Lose What We Never Had' are worth listening to.
Overall, the songs tend toward monotony. However, unlike other bands, the lead singers are not singly identified. On almost all the songs, there seems to be a more or less equal contribution from the members.
The album consists of simple songs with simple themes. For variety and a look at the band members' individual singing talent, the supplement in the special edition is worth listening to. It comprises six songs, with a majority of them repeated in the form of remixes. These are actually quite refreshing.
Rating: If a collection of die-hard love songs and hundred percent pure POP is your style, then 'Westlife' is the album for you.
