Manoj Night Shyamalan, 30, the director of the hit film, 'The Sixth Sense' is in Entertainment Weekly's annual list of the "101 most powerful people in entertainment."
Topping the list was Leslie Moonves, the president of television giant CBS. The Indian- American Hollywood director came in at a fairly low 77. Shyamalan did, however, pull rank of such superstars as Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lopez and Robert DeNiro.
Shyamalan made it to the list by virtue of writing and directing the suspense thriller The Sixth Sense that racked up $294 million in profits. Next on the anvil is another suspense thriller 'Unbreakable' starring Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson. He has also been commissioned by Dreamworks Studio to write the fourth instalment of the Indiana Jones film.
Shyamalan is the only filmmaker of South Asian origin to figure in the list published by the magazine in its October 27 issue.
