Compilation albums featuring an assorted range of artists are all the rage now. 'Aao Josh Mein' by HMVThe word 'josh' has connotations of robust, fast rhythms and strong beats (apart from a certain car!) The album, 'Aao Josh Mein' lives up to its 'josh' moniker. It features a compendium of some of the most foot tapping numbers in recent times. There's the absolutely delightful 'Rang De' (A.R. Rahman) from the Govind Nihalani film, 'Thakshak'. Asha Bhosle really lets it rip in this song. A.R. Rahman's contribution to the album continues with another song from 'Thakshak', 'Jumbalika'. This is a nice enough song but not really vintage Rahman.
For those who like Shankar Mahadevan, there is the breathtaking, 'Breathless'. Written by Javed Akhtar, the song has a breathless (!) quality about it. Mahadevan belts out the song seemingly without a pause. Truly a magnificent feat of vocal callisthenics. Mahadevan is also at his best in 'Aao josh mein'. For all Hrithik Roshan fans, there is the title track from 'Kaho Na..pyar hai'. But my day was made with the absolutely rollicking Kishore Kumar number from the film 'Bombay to Goa',- 'Dekha na hai re'.
Rating: Good time pass album. Great fun to listen to, maybe once. Perhaps twice. But beyond that..
