Posters of German supermodel Claudia Schiffer (30) in her bra and panties are driving Frankfurt residents to theft.
Of 600 display cases in the city showing the picture of the scantily clad model, 300 have been broken into, according to Deutsche Staedte-Medien, the agency, which hung the advertisements. The posters are part of a lingerie advertising campaign by Swedish retailer, Hennes & Mauritz.
To discourage people from stealing the ads, H&M gives them away at the end of each campaign. Accordingly, over this weekend, a line formed outside the firms Frankfurt office. The agency said it had posted roughly 6,000 Schiffer ads in display cases across Germany.
The Swedish firm is famous for its attention getting advertising campaigns.
