J K Rowling, the writer of the Harry Potter books that have seized the imagination of children and adults everywhere, recently met one of Britain's most famous bookworms: Queen Elizabeth II.
The Queen said, "I was a voracious reader when I was a child". The Queen made these remarks when she met Rowling at her publisher's office in London. "It stood me in good stead because I read quite quickly now that I have to read a lot".
The Queen also revealed that one of her granddaughters, Princess Eugenie, the 11-year-old daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, is a fan of Rowling's stories of the boy magician and his adventures at wizard school.
"They are certainly popular with one of my grandchildren," Queen Elizabeth said.Rowling's series, which have brought her worldwide fame and a hefty fortune, have been translated into more than 30 languages and sold more than 65 million copies.
A Hollywood film based on the first book in the series, 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone', is to be released in November.
