J.K. Rowling is generous with her profits.

J.K. Rowling, creator of the best selling children's books on Harry Potter, will share profits from her best-selling books with single mothers like herself.

It is a well documented fact that Rowling, 34, struggled as a single parent bringing up her daughter Jessica. She survived on social security for some time and wrote the best selling books about the young magician Harry Potter in a cafe while her daughter slept in a pram next to her. Rowling describes her penurious existence as a single parent, as being amongst the most 'humiliating' in her life.

Rowling recently donated a ``six-figure sum'' to the National Council for One Parent Families.
