Hrithik Roshan wowed fans at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards held in mid- June in Sun City in South Africa. The award show was billed as being the largest ever gathering of Indian film industry head honchos in Africa.
Hrithik Roshan and 'Kaho Na Pyaar Hai' predictably swept all the major awards. Roshan's debut film and the super hit of last year, 'Kaho Na Pyar Hai' won awards for best film, best director (Rakesh Roshan), best actor (Hrithik Roshan) best male playback (Lucky Ali), best female playback (Alka Yagnik) and best choreography (Farha Khan).
Karisma Kapoor won the best actress award for 'Fiza', while Amitabh Bcahchan and his wife Jaya Bachchan won the best supporting actor and actress awards for their roles in 'Mohabbatein' and 'Fiza' respectively.
Shammi Kapoor and Waheeda Rehman received special awards for their life long contributions to Indian cinema. The hosts of the evening were Miss World Priyanka Chopra and Kabir Bedi.- Is she really the Best Actress in India? >>
