Bollywood occupies centre stage.

A big Bollywood show will help kick start celebrations to mark the golden jubilee of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth in Britain next year.

It will take place in Blackburn close to Manchester in northern England. The show will tie up with the Spirit of Friendship Festival being held over 150 days across Britain to also mark the Commonwealth Games.

The Commonwealth is being made the highlight of the royal celebrations because the queen is particularly fond of it. With India being the largest member of the Commonwealth by far, and Bollywood such a popular Indian feature in Britain, the show is expected to be among the top draws in the Festival of Friendship.

"We believe the Bollywood show will generate a great deal of profit," festival director Jo Hartley told IANS. She said the festival includes an extensive schools program. Indian art and Bollywood will be introduced to thousands of schoolchildren across Britain next year.

Bollywood features as a crowd puller. It's the biggest entertainer for the large British Asian population of about 2.5 million. The festival organisers are looking to the Asian population to swell numbers -- and revenue -- at the festival.

Amitabh Bachchan is almost certain to be among the stars from India to come for the Bollywood bash.
