British-Indian actress Meera Syal has indicated that she has been asked to write the script for rock composer Andrew Lloyd-Webber's forthcoming Bollywood musical, Bombay Dreams. The London Times said that Bombay Dreams was based on "the plot of a young man drawn to India's celluloid capital by the dream of a life on screen."

Syal will work with music composer A.R. Rehman and acclaimed director Shekhar Kapur on the script. The musical is due to be completed next summer.

Syal is well known to Indian audiences as a cast member of the British Asian hit comedy show, Goodness Gracious Me.

Goodness Gracious Me airs on Star Plus on Fridays at 10:30 pm
