The decision to marry was sudden and entirely unexpected. Industry sources stated that the wedding had initially been fixed for early February.

The two-and-a-half hour ceremony was by all accounts, a simple one. It was attended by close friends and family members. Until late in the evening Wednesday, Akshay was shooting with Amitabh Bachchan and Rakhee on the sets of Suneel Darshan's "Ek Rishta: The Bond Of Love". Aamir Khan, who is a close friend of Twinkle's, his wife, Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh and director, Suneel Darshan made up the guest list of 50.

Twinkle, wore an outfit designed by Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla. Akshay wore an outfit specially designed by Mumbai's leading shopping outlet Sheetal.
