Mani Ratnam, one of the greatest filmmakers in Bollywood and also in the Tamil movie platform first came into filmmaking getting inspired by his brother, G. Venkateswaran, the famous Tamil movie producer. Mani Ratnam made a lot of films in Tamil and Telegu and earned fame as the number one Tamil Filmmaker, known for creating movies with a difference. Filmmaker Mani Ratnam blended originality and style in his movies and influenced by the international standards he soon started making movies that were well applauded by the audience for the naturalism and realistic stance depicted in each and every scene.

The best thing about his films are that fact that they all are great commercial successes and also have the seed of aestheticism sown in them at the same time. Mani Ratnam`s directorial debut was recognized in Hindi Film scenario with a series of Tamil films that were dubbed in Hindi earning him fame as one of the happening filmmakers in Bollywood.

The life of Mani Ratnam soon took to a glorious turn with Velu Nayakan, acted by Kamal Hassan that was a nationwide success and soon was recognized as one of the best films ever made in the recent times. The most popular of all the recent movies, Roja upheld the value of love among the war torn milieu of terrorism. It was a great masterpiece ever made in Indian cinema and earned wide applause as soon as it was released in 1992. Bombay , released in 1995 was another of his instant successes and acted by Manisha Koirala and Arvind it was depicted the purity of love, which was shown untainted by the colors of rage, violence and terrorism. Mani Ratnam- the filmmaker soon touched the sky of fame with his recent master work, Guru, another super hit in 2007.
