“Way to a man’s heart is through his stomach but the way to a women’s heart?”
Nobody knows what would please a woman and when. The only way to please and impress her is by trying, trying and trying. One particular thing that no women would refuse is watching a movie be it romantic movie, a thriller or suspense. Earlier it was believed that women always prefer romance over action and thriller but gone are those days now, women now prefer watching action heroes who are physically attractive and villains who are even better.
Portrayals of the characters in such movies are over – idealistic and too glamorous, even then it has a strong influence on each and every gender of our society and also affects people of every age. Women are mostly affected by films and women are starting to take interest in war movies too.
War movies are sometimes based on real events and sometimes fictional. As the name suggests it is concerned with warfare be it naval, air or land battles. It sometimes deals with the aftermath of war, sometimes prisoners of war and the sometimes the common people who are affected by warfare.
The popular bollywood war movie, BORDER, is a favorite among women; an anti-war movie based on India-Pakistan war of 1971 was an adaptation from the real life events that happened at the Battle of Longewala fought in Rajasthan. It was a hit among the Indian public, it touched hearts of many, including women. The depiction of the lives of Indian soldiers on the war field and their personal lives surely made many women cry as they could relate to the agony of those mothers and house-wives whose son or husband is out in the war field fighting a war for his country. This movie is by far the only best war movie of Indian cinema.
LAKSHYA, directed by Farhan Akhtar is also based on Indo-Pak war but the movie mainly deals with a love relationship. The protagonist decides to join Indian army only because the female lead wanted him to prove his worth. Though it is not a complete war-movie but is surely popular amongst girls, as they too would like to be the girlfriend of an army man.
The most awaited movie, MAUSAM, directed by Pankaj Kapur, an eminent director who casted his son in the way was a total disaster but it is liked by many as it revolves around a couple who are madly in love and have survived through many wars. Eventually it was during a war time when they finally meet to never separate again. The purity and essence of love that has survived through various hard times of war is surely heart rendering for women.
Though women have no role in a war movie but they surely have some part to play and they have strong significance in the movies. We often see a mother, a housewife or a sister reading a letter about their loved ones. They are also seen in the very start where the soldiers leave their homes and set for the war field.
