Your regular diet has a vital role in providing nutrients to your body. Diet means the wholesome food one takes. The diet of a person depends on the food habit. The food habit is dependent on the habitual decisions and the culture. The culture plays a big role in determining what food to eat and what not and also holds some preferences and taboos regarding certain foods. The most important thing about diet is its nutritional value. Our body works on nutrients supplied by us through our diet.
Different food items contain different nutrients and need a perfect balance of all the nutrients in our body. Therefore the diet plays the vital role in supplying our body the needed nutrients. Choose a diet, which provides you all the necessary nutrients for your body. A balanced diet not only helps to maintain a healthy body but also makes you more energetic and fit. The diet should contain all the nutrients required by a healthy body. While preparing a diet you should keep it in mind whether it contains the essential elements needed for our body. The food should contain carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and vitamins and roughage etc. in proper portion. So while making a diet make a combination of different food items. If one is rich in proteins the other should be rich in carbohydrates and so on. An essential part of the diet can be the milk or other dairy products. The mild contains almost all the necessary nutrients.
The carbohydrates are the most important source of energy in our body. Most of the carbohydrates are obtained in the form of starch. We can carbohydrates in potato, spaghetti, rice, yams, bread and cereals. The diet must contain proteins, which are required for growth of our body and repair of the worn out tissues of our body. Proteins are absorbed in our body in the form of amino acids. Proteins are sources of energy. Any kind of fish, meat and egg are rich in proteins. Plant proteins are available in pulses, soybeans etc. The fats also help us by providing energy. The fats are available in all oils, cheese, ghee etc. The fat also contains some fat-soluble vitamins, which are needed by our body. The Vitamins are essential for our body but in very small quantities. Vitamins can be of various types, and in the absence of any one certain diseases and symptoms appear in our body. Vitamins also play a role in the normal functioning of our body. Vitamin A is good for our eyes, Vitamin C is needed for our body to repair itself, Vitamin D is needed for absorption of Calcium. The minerals also form a part of our diet. Different minerals like, Iron, Calcium, Sodium, Iodine play an important role in our body. Iron is required to make hemoglobin; Calcium is required for healthy teeth, bones and muscles. Sodium is needed for every part of the body, especially the nerve cells and Iodine is used to make a hormone called thyroxin. The roughages, though do not have any nutritional value, yet have a part in diet since it helps in easy movement of the food and prevents constipation.
