- Think right . Your brain is the think tank that controls all your actions. By training your brain to 'think thin' instead of fat, you will be on to a good start. Believe you can lose weight. Imagine yourself as a slim, elegant person and believe me, you are already on the right track!
- You got to now set your goal . Just mere thinking is not going to make you slim. Begin by setting yourself short term goals like telling yourself that your are going to begin an exercise regimen that will involve 30 minutes of walking, or, even a visit to the gym. Follow up the plan with actual action. You got to make time for yourself so that you don't give excuses half way. Once you've allotted time, you will find it far easier to stick to the timings. Long term goals can then be made.
- Next follows an actual plan of action. Nothing worthwhile gets done without a proper well laid out plan of action. After all, we are onto the serious business of making you look good! Put down on paper " you may maintain a journal if that suits you " all the reasons why you want to lose weight and how you are planning to go about it. The next time you think of attacking that mithai box simply pick up your journal instead and get motivated to say 'no' to yourself. Believe me, that is the biggest hurdle you have to cross!
- Avoid negative thinking. Most of us berate ourselves for being overweight and literally flog ourselves mentally for not being one of those slim, slinky creatures that walk the ramp. That certainly will not help. Turn it into a positive action. Imagine yourself in that slinky dress instead; imagine yourself slim and confident and a turner of heads when you enter a room. This will help you to move forward in your quest for a slimmer you and make you more determined than ever to achieve your goal.
- Visualise eating a healthy meal. Visualising helps prepare your mind to healthy eating when you are confronted with, say, a wedding feast. Your mind gets tuned to eating healthy food because you have already conditioned it that way. Just go through the buffet laid out. Take your time to decide what is healthy for you. Avoid the oily stuff that is always a potential danger to any weight loss plan. Take small helpings and do not heap your plate. Just before you sleep, imagine yourself going for a healthy run. This will refresh you and also make you totally prepared for your early morning constitutional.
- Last but not the least, give yourself brownie points for each kilo you lose. See a beautiful saree or dress that you have visualised yourself in? Just buy it as a reward for your persistence " the day you can wear it with confidence and show off your lovely figure will not be too far off!
