15 ways to trim the fat
Snackon cereals. It`s crunchy, munchy, and gives you the same kick as high calorie savouries. Just fool your mind
Dine alone. Try preparing dinner for your family, but take yours to the living room to eat. Come back only once you are assured that everything has been cleared from the table. That way you will stop taking second helpings, or finishing stuff from your children`s plates.
Create `The End`. Don`t wait till every scrap of food is over before you stop eating. Eyeball your portions and eat only that much.
Read the box. Read everything written on the carton, the labels, everywhere. Read the contents. You could be buying something thinking it`s going to help you lose weight when it`s actually going to make you put the pounds on.
Check your fluids. Substitute water (even with a dash of lemon in it) for colas and other aerated and caloried drinks.
Switch your plate. Eat in a smaller plate. It looks full with less food on it so you won`t feel like you are depriving yourself of something.
Use nervous energy. When you`re under stress, your body releases adrenaline in anticipation of either fighting or fleeing. But in combating everyday stress, that biological response can urge you to eat. Run to deal with your pressure.
Breathe, don`t gasp. When exercising, breathe in through your nose, and out through your mouth. Exhale harder to force a deeper inhale. This sends more oxygen to the muscles.
Stretch. Try yoga. It`s relaxing, easy, and perfect for your body. You will find that you crave more vegetables than for chocolates, the fresh instead of the sweetened.
Get out. Fresh air can do wonders to your system. At least more than television can do. Walk outside - the more you walk, the more your waistline will shrink.
Act out. Is your job making you fat? Try a few lifestyle exercises. Walk to work swinging your arms out. Get off the bus a stop early and walk. Stretch. For 15 minutes every hour or two hours, walk, jump, wiggle, dance, anything that keeps you moving.
Phoner-cise.Use your telephone to exercise. Pace about while you are talking on the telephone. When you are on hold, do squats or leg lifts.
TV-cise. Don`t lounge about or relax while watching TV. Hoist dumb bells. Build your muscle.
Binge-proof your life. Pop in some inspiration. Keep motivational tapes and books handy. So, every time you feel like bingeing, turn on a tape.
Feel what`s gone. Whenever you have the urge to splurge, pick up a two-kilo bag of sugar. Feel it. Now, that`s what you don`t want back on your body.
