Are you a regular Coffeepot? Or are you a Fanta or a Coke addict? If you are the kind of person that drinks more than 3 cups of coffee or 3 sodas per day, you are in big trouble. I'll bet you thought you were sending some vital fluids into your system - but you are wrong!
Did you know that when these may be viewed as adding fluid to your body, they are actually having the opposite effect? Any kind of carbonated drink that has Caffeine in it or our plain and simple coffee has a dehydrating effect on the body! What is more, it can make weight loss more difficult, leave you feeling sluggish and if you are exercising it may actually hinder your performance and increase your risk of injury.
Remember that nothing is a substitute for water! You need water to keep your bodily functions working properly and smoothly. You need a MINIMUM of 8 glasses of water a day - and more than a half of us are not getting that requirement in. You need to drink more water, if you are the kind that exercises - at least 2 glasses of water before the workout, another half of a glass every 20 minutes during, and at least 2 glasses afterwards to replenish. So, get smart - start off slow if you want, and gradually add one new glass everyday each week until you reach your goal or begin by eliminating one cup of coffee or soda and replacing it with one cup of water.
