Dealing with craving for chocolates or sweets is rather like a smoker justifying a cigarette. " I know it`s bad for me, but I`ve had a bad day and I deserve a treat." If that`s the case, there isn`t anything anyone can do to stop you.
If you really want to resist temptation, here are some tricks that you can use.
Some people have found taking a really luxurious bath and pampering themselves works well. The distraction of a different luxury takes the mind of the desperate craving.
Yet another trick is to simply wait 15 minutes. Most cravings have a short life and will diminish significantly if you can hold out for just a while. Tell yourself that you will eat what you want after you finish a book ....or a particular chore....or anything else that will take some time. You will find that most often, you would have quite forgotten what you craved for. Or at least the intensity of the craving would be far less.
Drinking a lot of water helps, as does eating something salty or spicy.
Some people say `give in just a wee bit` to get a taste of what you crave, but don`t gorge on it. This works for some. Those with a certain amount of self-control. There are some to whom this idea would be counter-productive. It might trigger a bigger craving. Rather like the alcoholic and his `Just one drink` syndrome.
So watch out. Do what is best for you.
