Doesn't it happen to us all! We begin an exercise routine or regimen with great enthusiasm, but a few weeks or months later, we get stuck in the rut! Things then begin to get boring, they get repetitive and mundane. Enthusiasm wanes and you find yourself back to square one!

Mixed Bag

So, is your workout routine is becoming monotonous? Pep it up with a mixed bag! Exercise your body and your mind to get that extra bit of stimulation. How about working out in the gym thrice a week and going for long walks the remaining days? Do what you enjoy doing best: Bollywood dancing, learning the salsa / waltz, walking, Yoga, gymming, aerobics etc. Remember to mix things up before your exercise routine gets boring.

Sound of Music

Sometimes we associate the aerobics class with a particular song or CD. Change the music and see the difference. If you are listening to the same chants everyday while you do your Yogic exercises, you will soon tire of it. Keep a medley of CDs ready, to change the pace before boredom sets in. If you don't look forward to your aerobics class anymore, it may not be the exercise that is a turn-off, instead it could be the monotonous music you associate with the class!

Stretch your limbs....

Stretch for at least five to seven minutes before beginning the exercise class. Stretching takes away the day's tensions and stresses and prepares your body for the day's exercise routine. When you release anxiety, your mind begins to look forward to the day's work-out. Stretch more than your imagination, and see the difference!

Doll-up!

If you dress frumpy you feel frumpy! So why not make exercise a fun routine by actually dressing up for it? After all you do dress appropriately for work or party, so why not for exercising? You don't need to pull out the faded, old T shirt and the worn out trainers just because you are going to work out. Attractive colourful clothing, matching bandanas, trainers or Yoga pants can actually lift your spirits and make exercise fun! If you feel good about how you look, it makes you feel positive about yourself, which in turn, makes you want to exercise longer!

Breathe Free

Leave your worries behind and switch off when you exercise. Let your mind breathe free. Don't clog it with worries about what to cook tonight, tomorrow's presentation or pending credit card dues. Try to focus on the exercise you are doing and consciously avoid letting your mind wander. Pour yourself into what you are doing at the moment and see how high your level of enjoyment is!
