Philadelphia cuisine was largely shaped by various ethnic groups in Philadelphia and includes a several delectable dishes and snacks. Like most regions in America, Philadelphia also has its unique cuisines which it can call its own. Among the most well relished cuisines of Philadelphia are the cheese steak and soft pretzels which have become a vital part of the culture of the region. The chefs use innovation along with tradition to prepare some of the most delectable Philadelphia cuisines. The cheesesteak is made with sliced beef and melted cheese on an Italian roll and is a must eat for anybody visiting Philadelphia.

Some of the restaurants where you will find the best of Philadelphia cuisine include Chloe`s, Ishkabibbles, Jim`s Steaks, The Palm, Geno`s Steaks, Melograno, Pat`s King of Steaks, Smith & Wollensky, Tony Luke`s Old , Philly Style Sandwiches, Silk City Diner and several other places. Out of these restaurants Pat`s Steaks and Geno`s Steaks in South Philadelphia are the most popular with locals as well as tourists. Another food invented in the Philadelphia region is the hoagie which is a sandwich made with meat, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, and onions on an Italian roll. The hoagie can be eaten with several choices of fillings.
