New England cuisine is referred to food habits and cuisines which are popular in New England, in the northeastern region of the United States. The cuisines of New England are characterized by an extensive use of seafood and dairy products. Historically New England depended on its seaports and fishing industry, as well as dairy farming in states like Vermont. The two main ingredients used in New England cuisine are maple syrup and cranberries. Cranberries can be substituted with blueberries in most recipes and the preferred cooking technique used in New England are baking and stewing. Among other ingredients, creams are a standard owing to the states reliance in dairy.

Some of the traditional foods like clam chowder, baked beans, and homemade ice cream still remain a strong part of New England cuisine. There has been a strong influence in New England cooking by Italian Americans, the Portuguese fishermen of coastal New England, and Irish Americans. Some of the top favorite foods of New Englanders are clams which are either served with light meals or as appetizers. Some of the most mouth watering soups made in New England include Asparagus Soup, Butternut Squash Soup, Cold Blueberry Soup, Farro Soup, French Onion Soup, Fish Chowder, Garlic Soup, Spanish Style and Gazpacho among others.
