Having worked in this industry for a year now, I am fascinated by the clarity with which some people are able to leave behind voice mails. Please clarify!
Give your name, the name of the organisation you work for, the time you called and your contact number. Do not assume that people will connect immediately or even have your contact number with them. Speak slowly and clearly. If you haven’t met this person before, this is going to be the first point of contact, so make sure your voice conveys the right impression about you. Once the message is recorded, make sure you add the last line―will you be calling the person again, should the person get in touch with you or will you send a mail?
For those who are nervous about recording messages, write down the message that you want to record, go through it so that there are no mistakes, read it out loud to yourself and then record. It’s done!
