Ritu Kumar is one of the celebrated bridal designers in India. A native of New Delhi, Ritu Kumar was born on 11th of November in the year 1944. Ritu was a student of New Delhi`s Lady Irwin College. She graduated from this particular college in the year 1964. She passed out from New York`s Briarcliff College in the year 1966. This great designer of bridal garments have also designed the wedding dress of many celebrities. In an interview, Ritu Kumar opined that costuime designing is quite difficult and can be equated with arts.



The bridal wardrobes designed by Ritu Kumar are unique. They are noted for their design and choice of colors. Many of the Bollywood stars wore the brilliant wardrobes designed by Ritu Kumar on the day of their wedding. Apart from designing bridal wears, Ritu Kumar is also known for designing the wardrobes for the ladies participating in the prestigious Miss India contest. Since the year 1994, Ritu Kumar has been making the designs of the garments for the finalists of the prestigious beauty contest of Miss India.

She designed the swimwear, casual wear, evening wear, and traditional Indian wear. Over the past six years, Ritu Kumar has dressed about seventeen participants of Miss India contest. Out of all these Miss India contestants, thirteen have received the crown and seven have won the titles of Miss Universe, Miss Asia-Pacific, and Miss World. She designed the dress for the beauty-contest winners like Priyanka Chopra, Lata Dutta, and Diya Mirza. Apart from these, the outfits designed by Ritu Kumar have been patronized by the beauty queens like Jemima Khan. This famous Indian fashion designer also designed the dresses for late Princess Diana.

Ritu Kumar also wrote a book entitled Costumes and Textiles of Royal India. Christies published the aforementioned book of Ritu Kumar in the year 1999. This book written by Ritu Kumar explicates the history of art design and textiles in India. The garments designed by Ritu Kumar are available in different stores situated in the Indian cities like New Delhi, Kolkata, Pune, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. You will also get clothes designed by Ritu Kumar in the shops at New Jersey`s The Mall in Edison.

The impressive record has Ritu Kumar has achieved in the field of wardrobe designing cannot be achieved so easily. She has to make tremendous endeavor to get so much fame as a fashion designer.
