Agneepath is a National Award-winning Hindi film which was produced in Bollywood. This film was released in 1990 and was produced by Yash Johar and directed by Mukul Anand. Some of the importannt actors in this film were Mithun Chakroborty, Amitabh Bachchan,Madhavi, Rohini Hattangadi and Danny Denzongpa. The character of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan in Agneepath was a strong character. Amitabh Bachchan has depicted the confusion, the pain and the anger in an excellent way. The story of Agneepath starts with Vijay`s father, Dinanath Chauhan being killed by Cheena (Danny), the villain. The villain also tries to rape his mother. Vijay Dinanath Chauhan in Agneepath takes up the responsibility of his family and also decides to take revenge. However in order to do so, Vijay becomes a gangster and later on becomes the underworld king.

Vijay Dinanath Chauhan in Agneepath suffers an assassination attempt as he refuses to indulge in drug smuggling. He is saved by Krishnan Iyer(Mithun Chakroborty) and is taken to the hospital. Here he meets Mary, a nurse and they start liking each other. On the other hand, Krishnan is appointed as a bodyguard for Siksha, Vijay`s sister. Both Krishnan and Siksha start liking each other. However, their relationship is opposed by Vijay who protests against this to his mother.

Vijay`s mother is irritated with Vijay`s underworld links and disowns him. She does not realize that Vijay is doing this to avenge the wrongs done to his family. This hurts Vijay and Amitabh Bachchan had portrayed that pain in an excellent way through his acting. The story proceeds and we find that Vijay, takes step so that Cheena is arrested and is punished by law. But Cheena comes out of jail and tries to kill the members of Vijay`s family.

Ultimately Vijay kills Cheena but at the same time, he is also killed. He dies on his mother`s lap and she finally realizes that Vijay had done everything to avenge the wrongs done to his family. The film ends with Krishnan, Shiksha, Mary and the mother crying for Vijay. The tragic end of the story along with the excellent acting of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan was a major crowd puller. The film is still considered to be one of the best films of Amitabh Bachchan.
