Amitabh Bachchan is at his best as Sarkar in Sarkar. The movie was immensely successful in box office. The performance of Amitabh Bachchan as Sarkar in simply outstanding and once more it proves his potentiality as an actor. The success of the films hugely owes to Amitabh Bacchan who has tries his best to make the character of Sarkar credible.
The plot of the movie is taken from the underground world of Mumbai. Subhash Nagare who is popularly known as Sarkar, is an immensely powerful person. People come to him in search of justice. He solves problems in his own way. His honest judgment helps people to get justice. His elder son Vishnu (the role is played by Kay Kay Menon) is a producer, but he is ore interested in his film's heroine rather than his work. His younger son Shankar stays at USA. Shankar has immense respect and trust to uprightness and honesty of his father.
The story takes a turn when Sarkar is trapped by the opposition party. They charge against him the murder of an honest politician. In Jail, Sarkar is hurt several times in an assassination attempt, but he survives. His younger son comes to know about the murder attempt on his father from reliable source and he saves his father by presenting in the jail in right moment. Though Sarkar is hurt severely and he is taken to hospital. Later on the charges on him proved false. After coming back home from jail, he is attacked by his elder son who never trusted his father and joined the opposition party. This time also, Sarkar's younger son saves his life and killed his father following his father's rule to maintain justice. At the end of the movie, Shankar becomes the new Sarkar.
Amitabh Bachchan successfully draws the enigmatic character of Sarkar. He runs a parallel government. The government abides by him and obeys his rule. Though he is honest and righteousness is a major attribute of his character, but his way of judgment is cruel. Though he is not a criminal but his way to punish people for their wrong doings portrays the picture of a cool headed criminal. He does not take the help of law to penalize criminals. He is polite, calm and extremely intelligent. He remains cool in extreme situation. He never misuses his power. Amitabh's acting as Sarkar makes the movie a masterpiece. The movie is an evidence of his acting potency.
